Warning Zone Trip
In July, 58 Year 6 pupils from Highcliffe Primary School enjoyed an engaging and informative day at the Warning Zone Centre in Leicester.A popular interactive facility, Warning Zone is designed to educate children about the various risks they may encounter as they grow up, encouraging them to make sensible decisions when presented with these scenarios.
Guided by trained volunteers, pupils worked their way through 12 zones, with each one focusing on a different area of risk and safety. Children were faced with railway lines, busy roads, fire, building sites, alcohol and substances and knives.
Promoting the importance of e-safety, the cohort were also educated about the importance of staying safe online and when using social media platforms. They participated in a series of fairground-themed games which taught them about password security, phishing, grooming and cyberbullying.
On the trip, Assistant Headteacher Mr Watts said: “All of the children were amazing and found the day to be highly interesting.
“We are so proud of the maturity shown by all and we know that this is a very important day for pupils as they prepare for life as teenagers.”
