Chinese New Year
Last week at Highcliffe Primary we celebrated the Chinese New Year!
Our EYFS children focused on how the people of China celebrate this festival. They read the story of the first New Year and learnt that each year has a special animal; with 2023 being the year of the rabbit. They watched a video on how people celebrate, followed by a fun activity making traditional lanterns and decorating Chinese dragons.
As part of our after-school club’s outdoor learning, our students beautifully decorated the playground by drawing pictures in chalk to celebrate Chinese New Year. We drew dragons, lanterns, fireworks, and rabbits and then added natural materials to our pictures.
All of our students were enthusiastic and excited to learn about the culture and diversity of China.
